COD | No Difference in Sound When Toggling EHM On/Off

If you hear no difference in sound when toggling Enhanced Headphone Mode On/Off in Call of Duty, follow the steps below:

Audio Setup (must be correct):

  1. Set output to Stereo (not mono)
  2. Confirm headphones are selected as output device
  3. Disable Mono Mode
  4. Ensure audio is NOT sent to surround sound or multichannel output

Testing Tips:

  1. Lower or mute music—focus on environmental sounds and footsteps
  2. Try a private multiplayer match with bots (recruit difficulty) for controlled testing
  3. Listen specifically for: enemy gunfire, footsteps, NPC dialogue, environmental sounds
  4. These sources should sound more directional and external (3D) vs. inside headphones

Conflicting Software to Disable:

  1. PS5 3D Audio (disable in console settings)
  2. Dolby Atmos (disable on headphones and device)
  3. Windows Sonic (disable in Sound settings)
  4. SoundBlaster, Razer, Steelseries, or other headphone software spatial audio
